1. Courtesy
A. Feel free to disagree vigorously on issues. But name-calling, insults, and otherwise disrespecting fellow members will result in moderator action.
B. No racist or anti-Semitic behavior.
C. If you have a personal gripe with another member and you can’t solve it privately with them or agree to let it go, contact a moderator (even if you believe the other person started it or that they were clearly in the wrong).
D. We have a karma system that allows both applause and smiting of individual posts and their posters. Feel free to give as much applause as you think is merited. Please be sparing with your smites and don’t bestow them over cordial disagreements.
2. Privacy
A. You may not copy any of the content from this website to any other website. Exception: You have the right to copy your own words to another website (see item 3D below). What happens in the forums stays in the forums.
B. Similarly, you may know information about fellow members from private messages, in-person meetings, and so on. Do not reveal it, even here, without the other person’s consent.
3. Moderation policy & legal caveats
A. Violating forum rules will lead to action by mods and admins. In most cases, the first action will be a private warning. If that doesn’t work, the next step will usually be a temporary withdrawal of posting privileges. Upon return, the mods reserve the right to moderate all posts by the offender. In the event the bad behavior persists, we may impose a permanent ban.
B. Though no one will be banned without cause, in some severe cases (e.g. threats to another forum participant, malicious violations of privacy, obvious spamming), a member may be expelled without prior warnings.
C. Common rules of legality and good sense apply. Be very, very wary when discussing actions that would be illegal in the outside world. Do not attempt to involve or implicate others in illegal acts. Do not post long swaths of copyrighted material (instead, post fair-use quotes and links). Use your head.
D. By posting here, you give Living Freedom Forums the limited, non-exclusive right to publish, edit, and archive your posts. At the same time, you retain all rights to republish your own work in any form (including but not limited to publishing on blogs, in anthologies, or other adaptations). As a courtesy, we ask that you don’t make identical posts here and on blogs or other forums, but you retain the legal right to do so.
